Darryn bravely talks about the stigma that comes with being on the benefit, and how that has affected his life.

This stigma is just one of the many problems our current benefit system creates. These problems would be removed if we had an Unconditional Basic Income.

This week the new Labour leader Andrew Little has been talking about how our benefit system can’t keep up with modern life. He points out that we are facing radical change and need radical solutions – such as an Unconditional Basic Income.

We are also seeing the rise of low hour contracts, which makes interacting with the benefit system increasingly difficult. Some don’t bother because there is just too much paperwork.

We will talk more about the Unconditional Basic Income in tomorrow’s whiteboard Friday.
