This 3 year project started in June 2011. It aims to lift the economic independence of Dalit (untouchable) and tribal workers and their families in India, and to provide vocational training to develop business skills and increase earning capacity and employment, using 3 objectives.

  1. The formation of 5 new cooperative-based businesses to improve the economic security and livelihood choices of the cooperative members and their families.
  2. The formation of 4 micro-enterprises for 120 members, providing increased earnings and improved livelihoods for them and their families.
  3. Establishment of train-the-trainer courses for 155 key Dalit & tribal representatives, who will then run business skills courses for over 1000 local community members, to increase their earning capacity and employability.
